Grunwald extendable low-bed container semitrailer is a vehice of new generation of delivery. Semitrailer has a unique combination of characteristics - high maneuverability of the roadtrain in the basic mode and maximum functional versatility in the extended position. It is designed to transport a 20-foot container in the basic mode and 30-, 40- or a pair of 20-foot containers in the extended state.

In modern ports and intermodal terminals, all operations with containers are optimized. There is a well-functioning mechanism for loading containers for commercial vehicles. Traffic going on dedicated lanes, between the rows of container yard is enough space for safe maneuvering. Loading organized with minimal time loss.
But on the sites of the recipients of containers, in the places of unloading and rastarki, the situation often differs drastically: narrow thoroughfares that are not intended for road trains and there is no possibility for a turn, the access to the ramp is difficult and there is not enough free space.Delivery of a single 20 Ft container to an unadapted pad will strain the driver. Complexities of maneuvering, forced speed reduction, risk of damage to machinery - factors that can multiply the time of execution of an order.
But the acquisition of a short 20 Ft container semitrailer is not always economically feasible. It is more profitable for transport companies to have a universal fleet of vehicles.
The new sliding container ship Grunwald was created to solve such logistical tasks. The layout of the semitrailer assumes two modes of overall length and ensures the operation of the semitrailer under different conditions.
THE MECHANISM OF TELESCOPYING
The main structural feature of a semitrailer is a sliding mechanism, pushing the rear unit, which consists of the fitting beam, and bumper beam. In the extended state, the overall length of the semitrailer is comparable to the dimensions of the standard universal low-bed container carriers, and similar logistical capabilities also appear. It becomes possible to transport containers of large dimension.
At the basis of the sliding mechanism is a rack bar, and telescoping is carried out mechanically by the rotation of the lever. Both provisions are fixed by stroke limiter, and in the transport position of rotation of the lever is pushed inside the semitrailer. The order of action when dealing with telescoping extremely simple and guessed at first sight. The whole process takes less than 5 minutes and requires no super efforts.
PAINTING FOR SEVERE CONDITIONS
The quality of the Grunwald semitrailer painting meets the requirements of the ISO standard for severe climatic conditions. The guarantee of long-term product protection against corrosion is the appropriate preparation of the surfaces before painting. Therefore, the fully assembled metal structure is subjected to thorough shot blasting.
Painting is made by modern technologies with paint and varnish materials on epoxy and polyurethane basis. All used materials of European manufacture and exceptionally high quality, which allows to successfully operate the semitrailer in severe climatic conditions. When painting by the quality control service, step-by-step control is carried out at all technological stages of the process.
REINFORCED AXLES AND SUSPENSION
As standard, three axles of BPW production are installed on semitrailers, with a carrying capacity of 9,000 kg each on air suspension. Axial units are installed in the Heavy Duty version, reinforced in accordance with Russian road and climatic conditions. Brake mechanisms of drum type. Pneumatic system from the world leader - WABCO concern. On request, it is possible to install the disc brakes and axle assembly of the three axes SAF Custom Design.
All hinged components - axles, pneumatic system, electrician, support devices and fittings are purchased directly from leading European manufacturers. This approach ensures reliability in operation and simplifies maintenance of equipment due to a greater number of service stations and greater availability of spare parts.
